Bending the Rules?

Would it be ok to paraphrase an auther without giving him credit in order to get a good grade. Even though the generic responce to this would be something simple like, cheating is bad. When a person really thinks about the question the answer becomes harder to see. A person first probably begins to think of all the factors that could play in to it, what if you really agree with the author but your teacher wanted you to come up with it on your own. You also think of the fact that doing this could mean getting int to your dream college and effecting your future.

First we can look at what would be morally correct. I doubt many people would say cheating is the right thing to do. The problem is most people would prefer to think of it as the ends justifies the means. We seem to twist it more and more in our minds thinking of how its not that bad for us to steal another persons words.

Personaly the thing that would probably keep me from pagerizing the most would be the fear of getting caught. I know that sounds bad but that is why we have fear, to keep us from doing stupid things. It is good to take in to account that getting caught could have far worse effects than getting a slighly lower grade from not cheating.

I would like to say that I would definately not cheat but I cant, I know id think about it a lot, and id like to hope that I would do the right thing. Choices like these are very hard for many people, the right thing to do is not lwaysthe easy thing to do. Just saying you should always do the right thing isnt very helpful, the best thing i can say is think of the consequences and the fear you will deal with wondering if someone will catch it.
